Intro to Acrylics w/ Laura Kandle Tuesday, February 24th, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm $30 · All materials provided This hands-on workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of acrylic painting. Participants will learn essential techniques, color mixing, and brushwork while creating their own acrylic artwork. Perfect for absolute beginners looking to explore this versatile medium. By the end of this course, students will be able to: • Understand basic properties and advantages of acrylic paint • Mix primary colors to create secondary and tertiary colors • Apply fundamental painting techniques (layering, blending, dry brushing) • Create a simple composition using learned techniques Course Outline: Part 1: Introduction & Color Theory (30 minutes) • Overview of acrylic paints and their properties • Understanding the color wheel • Mixing primary colors to create secondary colors • Creating tints and shades Part 2: Basic Techniques (40 minutes) • Brush handling and care • Layering and building opacity • Blending wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry • Texture techniques (dry brushing, stippling) Part 3: Hands-On Project (45 minutes) • Simple landscape or abstract composition • Application of learned color mixing and techniques • Individual guidance and feedback Part 4: Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 minutes) • Group sharing and discussion • Tips for continued practice • Recommended resources for further learning What to Bring • Apron or old clothing (acrylic paint can stain) • Enthusiasm and creative spirit!
