Painting with Acrylics: 4-week Introductory Course with Laura Kandle Mondays at 6:30 - 8:30 pm, November 9, 16, 23, 30 $250 · All materials provided This hands-on course introduces students to the art of using acrylic paint to make a range of artworks including portraiture, abstraction, and a subject matter and style of the student’s choosing. Each class includes an instructor-led presentation and materials on the topic at hand that students will be able to take home along with their artworks. Day 1: The Basics Hour 1. Basics Presentation: A Better Approach to Color Theory, Understanding composition, acrylic paints and their properties -Student exercise - understanding color Hour 2. Guided painting from a photo reference Day 2: Acrylic Mediums and Abstraction Hour 1. Presentation: Acrylic mediums and abstract acrylic superstars Student exercises - getting a feel for acrylic mediums Hour 2. Instructor-informed abstract painting Day 3: Exploring Acrylic Portraiture Hour 1. Presentation: Acrylic Portraiture Across Styles -Overview of facial structure and how to draw the face Hour 2 . Guided portrait painting Day 4: Painting Intensive: bring your own subject matter or choose from instructor-provided photo references -Brief review of composition and painting techniques -Instructor-informed painting All materials are provided.
